Head: 25A "Glenda" Scarlett
Torso, Upper Arms: 25A Lady Jaye
Lower Arms: 25A Scarlett
Hands, Legs: 25A Diver Baroness
Feet: IJ Russian Soldier
Design:
Now that they're gone, I miss Devil's Due. Not for the lame stories or the poorly-written deaths, but for the infusion of new characters. Firewall is a good character and I was a bit surprised that Hasbro didn't toss one at us during the New Sculpt run.
The body is the "leftovers" of making my Major Demming custom. Rather than the flipper fleet from the Diver Baroness figure, these are the feet from the IJ Russian soldier figure. They're not as feminine as the Scarlett feet would have been. This works to bulk up the figure just a little bit and add a bit of diversity to the limited combinations of the few 25A female Joe bodies.
For the head, I chose a CW Padme. However, it was much to small to work with the body. As it turned out, "Glenda" Scarlett was a perfect starting point to make the pig-tailed Firewall head.
Colors/Paints:
The overall color scheme of a dark upper half and brighter lower half makes no sense, and yet it works for this character.
Firewall never looked quite the same twice in her comic book appearances, leaving lots of room for play. I wanted the trousers to be a dark green-brown, but was out of both green and brown spray paint. Instead, I used blue and yellow. The yellow paint was very gloppy and textured, leaving a mess to fix. To hide the mess, I hit the legs and waist with a green wash and the result was not what I expected. It looked like some of the marbled plastics used to make figures in the A Real American Hero run. I liked it, so I kept it.
The shirt part of the torso is painted in a medium grey vs. the dark grey of the sleeves to give the impression of a vest. There are only so many tricks to diversify the few female 25A parts.
The wings on the chest were too visible to ignore, but I expanded on it to make it look like a pattern that Firewall might have on her vest.
The rolled-up sleeves look out of place. Being to lazy too sand them off, I opted to paint them black as either armbands or elbow pads.
Sculpting/modifying:
Most of the customs of Firewall involve placing NS Jinx ponytails on another figure's head. This looks good, but I wanted the figure to have more dynamic and oversized pigtails. The pigtails are hot glue spiraled onto a wire frame that runs through the head. In addition to the pigtails, there are also some strands of hair falling across the front of the face.
The small scarf is another attempt to minimize the "Lady Jaye" appearance.
Thanks for looking.
