Yoo-Hoo! I'll make you famous!

I've had a Billy the Kid custom in the wip pile since early this year when I stopped to see him in Fort Sumner, and stopped by Lincoln to check out his old stomping grounds. Both fascinating places if you ever get the chance to stop by. While the gravesite is very interesting, the graveyard is pretty run down. It's kinda spooky there as well. I waited until the other couple left before entering. What's spooky is it seems as if there isn't any sound. No birds chirping, no insect chatter, there's only one road there and back, so no traffic. Just a little spooky.
Lincoln was a much more interesting spot, as the courthouse where Billy made his escape still stands today. Complete with bullet holes at the bottom of the stairwell, and a lot of really interesting items throughout the courthouse that have been gathered up from the town over the years, and families that live in the area that had relatives in the era that Billy roamed.

In making a Billy the Kid custom, I ran into a lot of obstacles. I couldn't quite get anything that would be a dead on recreation of Billy's tintype photo, so I ended up with a cross between what you see in the tintype photo, and what you see in Young Guns 2. It's hard to say what colors the outfit he wore for the photo were, so I went with a variety of washed browns, some white, and a very dirty blue.
There was no good way to replicate the slouch hat seen in the photo, so I went with a derby type hat as seen in Young Guns 2. You can't tell from the photo tintype, or the other two photos of Billy (one has been deemed authentic, the other one nobody is quite sure yet), but he had dirty blonde hair. I chose the Loki head for the two reasons, it looked youthful, and it was a bit on the small side.
Most accounts state that Billy was a well kept, sharply dressed guy when in town, though the tintype looks like he just came back from raising hell somewhere. The other two photos he is a lot better dressed, though one he might be in shackles. If I can track them down, I can post them up as well. For a variety of reasons, I went with a dirtied up Billy look.

I obviously ran all the photos I took of him through some filtering, as you can see. I included some of the original unaltered photos as well.
