Head: Comic Three-pack Cobra Commander/Fred VII
Rest of Body: Crimson Guard
Helmet: VvV Crimson Guard
Wade Collins served in Vietnam together with Stalker, Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes. During an extraction his unit was caught in an ambush and Wade was left behind believed to be dead but he survived and was captured by the enemy and thrown into a prison camp. After month in jail he was liberated by friendly forces and brought home to the States where he found it impossible to resume an old life soldiers were despised, so he couldn't get any jobs and old friends had turned their backs on him. During his most depressive state he caught sight of a banner that spoke of a new organization called Cobra that prompted him to seek a new beginning in life full of glory, fortune and adventure. Wade Collins joined Cobra despite the fact that it spoke highly of revolt against the existing government but Wade ignored that as he himself felt betrayed by the current rule.
In Cobra, Wade Collins felt he'd found a new purpose in life and that purpose made him work hard to advance in the ranks. Before he went to Vietnam, Wade had studied in law and earned a master degree, and that allowed him to join the ranks of the Crimson Guards. As a "Siegie", he was offered a spot in the new program of the "Fred series" which required a plastic surgery and completely abandoning of the old life Wade felt that his old life no longer gave him anything so he agreed to the terms. He became the second clone in the "Fred series", where his designation was "Fred II".
Being the second "Fred" in the row, Fred II was assigned to replace the first "Fred" who had been killed on a mission and he suddenly found himself being a Father in a family left behind from his predecessor, a necessity required to cover his real assignment: to spy on the G.I. Joe. Intent to do harm to his enemies for the benefit of Cobra, Fred II went off in several sabotage mission, and it was during one of those he ran into his former Vietnam comrades Stalker and Snake Eyes. Feeling that the two were responsible for abandoning him in the first place, Wade revealed himself when taking them prisoner. But during the hostage crisis, Stalker talked some sense into the misguided agent and convinced him that he was working for the wrong cause. After that Wade Collins left Cobra and settled down with his adopted family, which he against original plans had taken a close liking to.
After years of solitude, Wade Collins was drafted into the government to serve as an inside man within Cobra. Being a "Siegie" and a "Fred clone" even, Wade could move where no other man could, which has become a great benefit for G.I. Joe. Wade Collins now serve his country proudly for a noble cause but his biggest pride is for his adopted son Sean, who has been trained by Snake Eyes into a ninja, and who now serve the G.I. Joe team as Kamakura.
Personal Comments:
Who needs Agent Faces? I really like Wade Collins, and I think it is a crime not to use his character as a Crimson Guard spy. The profile is accurate all the way to where Wade left Cobra in the comics, but the last part is my own makeup for my own Joe verse. Wade Collins was after all killed in the Master/Apprentice comics, but I ignore that part.
The best thing with this figure is that you can pretend it could be any Fred clone if it would be needed on the other hand I am displeased with those oversized helmets. But unfortunately there's no way to escape that.
