Mortal Kombat Johnny Cage
I knew I wanted to add a prominent character like BARAKA to my custom Mortal Kombat figures, but how? There wasn't a headsculpt out there that was remotely close, and since many of the MK figures, like the Street Fighter figures, were based on Ninja Force figures, they couldn't be disassembled. There was a Johnny Cage figure whose uniform was close to Baraka's in basic shape, but there was still the matter of the head, not to mention those spikes in the arms. Ultimately, all I could do was remake the head with resin modeling putty. I'm pleased enough with the results. For the record, the only parts of Johnny Cage's face that are actually showing through that mess are his eyeglass lenses, as Baraka's eyes painted red, and his nose. I hear once a week he gets together with Armin Shimerman (Star Trek's Quark) to discuss the discomfort of working under layers of prosthetic makeup. The arms have an unfortunate "Popeye Effect", but I had to build them up somewhat to allow for at least ONE arm claw each, which is a repainted toothpick. Maybe not my best effort, but this was one of my more extreme customs, too!
