This plane has been in the works for a while. It is a Christmas gift for my father and has a commemorative paint scheme honoring my grandfather who was a tail gunner in a B-17 in WWII.

I tried to put as much information and meaning into the decals and paint as possible. The color scheme is classic olive drab and red to match the B-17's early in the war prior to them just leaving them shiny aluminum. He was in the 351st Bomb Group, 509th Bomb Squadron in the United States Army Air Force flying out of a base in Polebrook, England. His group flew the symbol Triangle J on the tail fin. The plane he flew in most missions was named the "Myassisdraggin". I took some liberty with the tail art as we never actually saw a picture of the actual nose art on the B-17, but we had a description and I got as close as I could. The numbers on the tail fin are acurate and would have been displayed just like that on the real B-17. The symbol on the side of the cockpit is the actual group symbol for the 509th and my grandfather's nickname in WWII was "Jeep" so I incorporated that into his name as the pilot name under the cockpit.

This plane was a lot of fun and took a lot of research as well as patience. I hope my Dad enjoys it.
