Monster Hunter: International. I just have this vision in my head of Earl Harbinger and Snake Eyes fighting back to back against unspeakable horrors.

Might be a little meta, considering that the MHI author is apparently G.I.Joe's accountant.

*like*

A similar concept also easy to cross over is the Spooks/Omega Team comic verse...

That would be so sweet.

This as well and add Airwolf (if they had figs and vehicles) and the Stargate setup as Sputnick said.

I really like MASK and VENOM being added to their respective teams.

Matt and I are also working on including Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and the CORPS! (well, mostly me on the last one).

Here is our current timeline

• Sgt. Savage & Screaming Eagles vs The I.R.O.N. Army. The latter is ran by General Garrison Blitz, and his second in command Marcus Kassells (has a twin brother name Frederik Kassells. Fred series of CGs named after him).
• Adventure Team vs M.A.R.S. Destro Sr hires Marcus Kassells to help with cyborg and android technology.
• Action Force vs Red Shadows. The latter formed by Marcus Kassells, aka, Baron Ironblood.
• GI Joe vs Cobra. The latter formed by Marcus Kassells, and later brings in William Kessler to co-run Cobra with him. Two men, one identity
• Sigma 6 vs S.K.A.R. The latter formed by Marcus Kassells. Sigma 6 are the remaining members of the Joe team led by Joseph Colton after order "sigma 6" was initiated to capture and punish the Joes for war crimes.

Others
• Khobra La is the equivilant of Mortal Kombat's Outworld – Residence include Goro and Reptile
• Lin Kuei were created by Khobra La to protect Himalayan entrance to Outworld. They become the modern Night Creepers.
• Shirai Rye, formed by former Lin Kuei member Takeda (later known as the Dark Ninja Master). After his death, surving members become the Red Dragon.
• Red Dragon split and become Arashikage and Koga
• Koga Ninjas were ran by Shang Tsung. They produce Firefly, Sei Tin (aka Street Fighter Akuma), Gouken, and Dan (William Kessler's brother). Have ties to Red Shadows.
• Black Dragon formed after alleged death of Shang Tsung at the hands of Seit Tin. More of a Yakuza crime sindicate than ninjas. Rivals with Shadaloo. Receive weapons from M.A.R.S.
• Shadaloo formed by Black Major and his son, Vega (aka M.Bison). They sell knock offs of M.A.R.S. tech. Plans given to them by Darklon.
• Arashikage split after Hard Masters death. Red Dragon reformed, seeking to resurrect the Dark Ninja Master.
• Ninja Force formed by former pupils of Arashikage masters.
• Coil is a group including Baron Ironblood, Dr. Mindbender, Shang Tsung, Vega, etc whose purpose is to create Serpentor, aka the Final Disciple.

This backstory is really a cliff's note version, as Baron Ironblood (Marcus Kassells) is the main character in this whole thing.

What are your guidelines? Do you have any?

Firstly, ya gotta dig the concept/character you're bashing in. If you're doing it for any reason other than that you dig the character/concept and want to bash it in with Joedom, it's unlikely to be a successful bash, imho.

Quote:
For those of you that include Joe as part of the same universe as Star Wars, Marvel/DC, Star Trek, etc.- from a creative perspective, how do you make that leap?

How did I make the leap? If I'm understanding that correctly, I realized that bashing universes doesn't prevent telling new 'solo' stories; it just opens up the possibilities of what new stories you can tell. Just because you accept that SW and Joe exist in the same storyplay universe doesn't mean you have to tell every story involving characters from both universes; you can still have a plain-old Joe-vs-COBRA fight if that's all you want today.

I don't understand the reticence many have about mixing their toys. I don't see the downside to doing it. The Joes don't get cooties from other figs just because they're in the same playset together, y'know.

Quote:
What universes do you blend into your Joeverse? Any strange ones?

All the ones I dig and have thought to bash in. It's fairly easy to bash universes together since so many share concepts and one only has to translate the diff 'languages'. The big question is about how faithful you're going to choose to be to the original stories. Do the events of the SW films still play out *exactly* as filmed with your bashed-in stuff simply happening off-screen; or do you scrap some of the film canon just because it gives you some kicks? Some adjustments almost always have to be made to explain away why these two universes are really the same one; but you can choose to make solely those changes needed to retain as much canon as possible, or do you choose to throw canon out the window and go hog-wild?

The latest universe I've chosen to bash in with the rest of my Universe Asunder is Larry Niven's Known Space. I love his stuff and adding Puppeteers, Kzinti, the Ringworld, and the Pak in with the 32nd Century stuff just after Picard's retirement from StarFleet Admiralty sets up for a bunch of cool customs.

I used to combine GIJOE and Star Wars all the time. I had the Rebels/main gang entering a wormhole in the Millenium Falcon that landed on here on Earth. When they were rescued, they left a sizable spaceship for the GIJOE team to use to get to that galaxy far far away.

Star Trek shows up pretty much the same way, although it is slightly similar to the TOS episode where the Enterprise goes back in time and then has to transport the pilot back into the jet before returning to their time.

I may have adventures in the Marvel universe and in the DC universe. They can interact without any problems.

For the most part, I try to keep my Marvel/DC crossovers to GIJOE real, which means I don't use superpowers and I slightly alter the timelines. Captain America is more of a promotional PR 'mascot' before he gets venomized by Cobra. The Black Widow is a highly trained special operative. Tony Stark is a munitions dealer and Destro rival before he gets injured and then develops an early suit, which is the beginnings of the Accerelator Suits. Barricade uses an early down graded version of the armor. Namor is just a kinda like a Bond villain (Stromberg) in that he is a proponent of undersea living (like scientists living in underwater farms). No one flies like Superman or runs fast like the Flash. No one shoots eye beams...
