The club annoucned in the newsletter that they will be making DTC wave 4 a club exclusive of some kind. I didn't get my newsletter this month so I found out on there board thanks to Dune Echo. Thought some of you might be interested about this information.

Wow... I'm not even sure I want these anymore. If they sell them individually, I'll get Munita, otherwise, I'll either pass or maybe see if someone wants to split a set.

I doubt you'll be alone in that sentiment. Pre-Anniversary sculpt, these made a lot of sense. Now, I can't see these being all that popular with the exception of Munitia. Why pay (likely) $18 for a Cobra Officer when you can get a better Anniversary sculpt version for $6? I could see MC offering these only as a box set or something to offset the popularity of Munitia, though.

are people still clamoring or even really wishing for these figures to be a reality?

will this really sell more than a few at the astronomical prices the club will have to charge to justify making them happen?

Munitia was good, always nice to have new blood in the ranks. The rest were sub-par way back when we first saw pictures (more than 2 years ago now) IMO... now they're mostly just sad. Typical of the inconsistency that defined the DTC line, I can't imagine what the appeal of them will still be so long after the cancellation. (yes, I'd have bought them back in the old days too, very happily in fact. now, well, we have the Anniversary line. :))

I'd still much rather have these than the first two five packs we got. But now, I tend to agree...there can't be that much demand for them. The 25th line has gotten better and better since those first packs.

As for my personal take? I can't wait to get them.

Honestly: I think this is going to be a disaster for the club.

At this point demand for the "New Sculpt" style figures is virtually nil. Combine that with the fact that most of these figures are lackluster at best and you've got a recipe for disaster.

While I'm excited to get Munitia, the prospect of Master Collector taking a blood bath on these, blaming US for not buying them, and raising their prices to compinsate for their mistake is not a pleasant one.

Honestly, they should have just used Munitia as next year's freebie fig. Or even better: Retool the Munitia head for a 25th Anniversary body.

I don't understand the feverish desire for Munitia. But I agree with Viperlord otherwise. I think these will sit in the Club's inventory for a long time, which sucks.

A lot of people carped and [LASER BLAST] about these never coming out and now they will and they'll sit.

That said, I might get Airtight. Reading the JBL review really sold me on that figure. I think it's one of the few that would go well with my 25th collection.

While I suffer from completionist disease, I'll be getting them.

I haven't seen any pics in a while, but I seem to recall liking them.

All I know is I got really excited about Airtight two years ago, so IMHO it justifies the set, Munitia is gravy and jesus outback is nice fodder.

Other than that what else was in that wave?

Steve

Cobra Officer, Night Viper, & Falcon were the others.

If they're reasonably priced (a big if), I'll pick up a set, an extra officer and maybe a couple of Night Vipers.

I still use largely new-sculpt-based customs in my dioverse...for now. But odds are pretty good that the Airtight will be stripped of his accessories to fuel a 25th custom of the character.

Viperlord nailed it. Do enough people actually care about new sculpt to make this venture worthwhile? I just can't see there being enough people, completionists or otherwise, who will buy enough of these to recoup the club's cost for producing them.

I would not have bought these figures had they been released through DTC. I would not buy these figures if they were released at retail for the old $5 price. Let these molds die and make an exclusive 25th sculpt of some obscure character instead. Hell, I might even join the club if they did that, but not for molds that I stopped collecting almost three years ago.
