I know I saw a lot of good figures in there, but I'm still remembering Star Sapphire :) :shifty:

The Storm head works surprisingly well, and I like that you fixed up that torso too

Thanks for the comments, guys, and for the head suggestion, Tim. The Swamp Thing figure is the Venom you sent me before Christmas.

Here's a late night post. I had to work today. All four of these were straight out unplanned/ throw the parts together fodder figures, which to me was more fun to make.

A few rogues...
Dead-Shot: I have been wanting to make him for a while with a little less spandex, more military feel.
Image

Penguin: My take on him is an underworld (sewer level) aristocrat. I liked the look of the Batman Returns Penguin, so I used a little of it in creating the figure.
Image

Killer Croc: I wanted Croc to be more like the Batman the Animated Series, and less the Lizardish. He's Penguin's bodyguard and enforcer. The Penguin taught him how to use his size, birth defects and skin disorder to his advantage.
Image

Catwoman: My wife was nice enough to pick me up an extra Black Widow. I had plans for the head but not the body. I decided to update my previous Catwoman custom.

Feel free to leave your comments as always.

I figured that was the venom I sent ya...
Deadshot and croc and catwoman all look really great. Penquin is a good idea for him too.

Big batch today. I've changed work hours, so it has hindered me from posting each day, so it's make-up day. I got an excellent batch of parts from Rodimus, so I decided to make quick use of them.
Rogue: I originally used a Helix head on her and was going for the black movie type design. It just didn't work. I got the ponytail head to make a Sharon Carter similar to jm70's version. She just screamed Rogue when I started applying the paint.
Image

Saint Walker: The hands are stand-ins until I find some Squid-head hands to use.
Image

The Spectre: Just a fun one I threw together waiting for other parts to dry. I see him more as a celestial type being, hence the free-floating head in the cloak.
Image

The Shredder: Made with more awesome fodder from Tsunami.

Hush: My first attempt at using plumber's tape on a custom.
Image

League of Shadows: the formula is based on a fellow board member's design (though I apologize that I can't remember the name at the moment). I wanted a universal figure that I could do head-swaps with (i.e. Bruce, Ra's/ Ducard).
Image

Ursa: The first of the three Kryptonian criminals.

Penguina dn Killer Croc are some really original takes on those characters. Why the African Grey instead of a Penguin though?

Rogue is a nice update. Still recognizable.

Saint Walker is really good. Very clean.

The Spectre look reminds of when Hal Jordan first took over that mantle.

Shredder is decent but kind of gets lost with everything else you posted.

Hush is perfect. I love how grimy he looks.

Nothing wrong with the League of Shadows and it is a much better use for those parts then they were originally intended for.

I love the details for Ursa like the flag sash and broken guns. Nice nod.

It's all cool, but Hush and Spectre are big stand-outs for me. Agree with pluv that the flag sash is an inspired detail/nod. It's subtle enough I actually didn't catch it until pluv mentioned it. To me, that makes it even cooler.

more good additions. Rogue looks great. The league of shadows is great, saint walker looks great.
Shredder looks good too, he looks a little small in scale but still a good figure

This post will be a little lenghty as it is a critique as a well as a couple product reviews thrown in as well that tie into the making of the custom. I've wanted to make Doomsday for a long time. I even considered picking up one of those Mattel Superman line Doomsday, but he was too big for what I wanted. When Rodimus started showing his casting work, he posted his Hero Killer kit. I knew then that it would be the way to go.

The base figure is a MU Apocalypse. I had to mod the elbows to make the lower arms fit and re-pin them. Not a big deal. I also removed the original neck and sculpted my own to fit the HK kit head. I will tell anyone wanting to make a Doomsday for themselves that Vortious Customs Hero-Killer kit is the best case scenerio. The casts were sharp and required very little clean-up of flashing. There were a few minor air bubble spots to the back piece, but I really felt they weren't that noticable and added character to the custom.
http://vortiouscustomaccessories.ecrate ... killer-kit

The second new product I used on this custom was Instant Mold. I'd seen it mentioned in other threads, but I never got around to checking it out. I was getting low on green-stuff, so I hit ebay to replenish my stash. One seller had a combo listing of GS and Instant Mold. There were no instructions included, so I hit Youtube and watched a few tutorials. The poster says to use hot water to soften the Instant Mold for making the mold. I ended up microwaving a coffee cup of water at 3 minute on high to get it to work. Once it was softened it really was relatively easy to work with. My first trial mold was a chestpiece for Doomsday. I took the two lower leg extrustions from the kit and glued them together. Then I made the mold. It didn't take but about a half hour for the mold to set it. The mold was easy to separate, and the original piece came out without any kind of mold release. I then used green-stuff to make the cast. 24 hours later, and it was good to go.

Will Instant Mold replace resin casting, no probably not. I will say it seems to work good for duplicating texture, small landscape items, and potential armor pieces. I plan to try to cast a head just to see how it will work.

The Insta-mold stuff looks great. I assume it is reusable, which is a huge plus. The parts turned out great!

Yes, just heat it back up and reuse it.

hold on -- you used greenstuff inside the mold to make the piece?

how long did you wait for the greenstuff to set up?

would it work with aves fix it?

no mold release?
