Metalhead is one of Donnie's greatest inventions, a fully independently operated android. In a truly dire moment where his life was left in the balance, Donatello uploaded his consciousness into Metalhead in order to help with the care that his body needed. His life was saved and he returned to his own body but it appeared that an echo or ghost of him was permanently imprinted on the code that operates Metalhead.
