Maim is a sadist whose only joy in life is pain. He tortured animals as a child and moved on to people at age 13. He was caught on his 18th birthday and sentenced to life in prison. During an engagement between GI Joe and Cobra his cell wall was hit by debris from a shot down Rattler. He escaped and managed to grab onto Cobra Commanders personal helicopter. He was accepted into Cobra when he demonstrated his skill in torturing a Viper who had attempted to defect. In his torture chamber Maim keeps some of his earliest victims hanging on the wall.
