As a kid I thought it was really cool to finally have a Russian on the GI Joe team. It was a great example of the "cooling" off that happened after the Cold War ended

I was initially happy with Hasbro's offering but they really phoned it in as I looked at the original figure. So when the Zartan movie figure came out I went to work in trying to make a really accurate modern version.

For the legs I wanted a look that fit a Russian uniform. I liked the desert Cobra set that we got but was still really happy with my own Major Bludd so I was able to use that sets lower legs for Red Star since they had the look I was going for.

I also added one of the many pieces of disposable plastic that came with the early 2000's JvsC figures as his wrist machine gun.
