When I first started out with my EXCAL universe, I had a very strong knights in armor theme to it. It made sense to me to have the bad guys themed somewhat similarly. Since then, EXCAL has taken on more of a setting for making customs of characters more true to their actual interpretations, and the few original takes I do now, usually involve more realistic appearances (for example, my Knighthawk no longer looks like an armored knight in EXCAL - he looks like a spy or under cover detective).

That said, I do still enjoy this era of my early Joe customizing. I really like some of the base parts of these red Jedi figures, and always intended to go back and add Joe styled articulation. I have a feeling if I do so now, it will be to use as different characters.

I also did what I could to add subtle differences between Tomax and Xamot. But I think I enjoyed the Dusty head because I didn't have to mod the hair one way or the other. I did however add the cheek scar to Xamot, and also his arm shows one of my real early attempts at battle damage.
