Mean Dog Cockpit
Raider cannons and treads
Parasite body
Paralyzer cannon
I really hated the HISS IV (who didn't?) but some of the design aspects that were a departure from the original HISS really intrigued me. I like the low slung, heavily armored cockpit, and although it had limited troop transporting capabilities, it still at least HAD them, unlike the HISS 3 and the Crimson Hiss. I decided to try to work aspects of all the different HISS's into one design. I liked the less streamlined look of the HISS 2, the overall body detail, over the first HISS body's smooth armored plates. I also liked the troop transport capability. I decided to try and use the lower slung, armored cockpit of the hISS IV, and the Mean Dog cockpit looks a lot like what I was thinking. I had been wanting to use a Parasite for awhile, because it it a pretty cool design, just has a crappy cockpit with crappy colors. I had a hard time with the treads, because of the size of the body, HISS or HISS 2 treads weren't big enough, and treads from other tanks like the Wolverine, Equalizer or Bridgelayer were too long. I ended up with the Raider treads because they fit, although it is REALLY front heavy. The assemble ended up negating the low slung cockpit. There was just no way to attach it effectively. I decided to use a small unmanned turret on the top, which is a departure from all the HISS designs, but I wanted to keep the troop door openable. In the final model, I get the color of the original HISS, the more detailed look and troop transport capabilities of the HISS 2, and the armored cockpit of the HISS IV. I added the large cannons to the front to make up for the small turret I put on the top. I wanted to add some color to it, but ultimately, laziness and the general love of the color black won out.
