When Freddy Krueger was alive he was a tormented being who was teased by others when he was younger and abused his wife and child. He created weapons for his own use in his basement and when his wife discovered this, he murdered her in cold blood in front of his only child. After many other children of Elm Street began to go missing, it was discovered that the person responsible for these killings was Krueger. Upon discovering this, the parents of Elm Street invaded Kruegers home and threw him into his furnace where right before he died, he made a pact with the dream demons to continue the evil legacy he had started in the afterlife. Through this pact, Krueger was now able to enter the minds of the children of Elm Street and terrorize them in their sleep, where he would kill them and exact his revenge on the people who had burned him to death. He now hunts the children of Elm Street in there dreams.
