One of the strangest species found on Tolkien III is the Chimera, a creature comprised of feline, ungulate and reptilian characteristics often found in the mountainous regions of the planet. Chimeras are fierce carnivorous hunters known to hunt in packs and to devour much larger creatures than themselves. Chimera are feared by most other species indigenous to Tolkien III and are to be avoided at all costs.

Despite their ferocity and dangerous natures, Chimeras are also highly intelligent, capable of outsmarting sentient hunters and avoiding traps. Some scientists studying the fauna of Tolkien III have even observed Orcs utilizing trained Chimera as war beasts, sending them against their enemies.
