While Douglas father was leading community work, Douglas witnessed a deranged young man shoot his father and then the gun man was ready to shoot everyone else in the area. A police officer took action and shot the gun man on his legs. The gun man fell and the police arrested him. Douglas' father's gunshot wound was not severe and survived the attack. That day, Douglas realized that everyone is susceptible of being harmed and sometimes no matter how peaceful you choose to live, guns is the only way to fight guns. Instead of being scared, the incident made Douglas more courageous. Douglas joined the army and promised to protect those who cannot defend themselves.
