After the death of Kraven the Hunter, Dr. Mindbender approached the Kravinoff family in an attempt to coax, cow, or cajole the secret animal type enhancing formula out of them. Ultimately he failed, came up with the Venom program we know about but he also gained an enemy. Alyosha being the unwanted stepchild of the family grew up with different values. Where his father saw only the savagery of The Hunt, Alyosha found the nobility. To this end, he began to sabotage Mindbender's field operations around the world. Seeing Cobras like Razorclaw, Coil Crusher, and Venomous Maximus as the new version of his father's Wild Hunt.

Unfortunately, his methods while effective are barbaric and very much like a wild lion. This runs him afoul of the Joe team from time to time and keeps them from working together. This suits Alyosha just fine. The Nobility of The Hunt is in eradicating his prey, but the savagery of his father still beats in his heart of darkness, and woe to the creature that stands in the way of a righteous man full of fury.
