The UAZ 470 is the replacement vehicle for the LuAZ 469 series jeeps. Based loosely on the UK Cheetah, this is the standard light vehicle of Russian Army.The UAZ 470?s mission is to provide a light tactical vehicle for all areas of the modern battlefield. The UAZ 470 is equipped with a high performance diesel engine, automatic transmission, four wheel drive and a CTI/Run flat system. It is air transportable and droppable from a variety of aircraft. The UAZ 470 can be equipped with a self-recovery winch capable of up to 6000 pound 1:1 ratio line pull capacity and can support payloads from 2,500 - 4,400 pounds depending on the model. The vehicles can climb 60% slopes and traverse a side slope of up to 40% fully loaded. The vehicles can ford hard bottom water crossing up to 30 inches without a deep water fording kit and up to 60 inches with the kit.
The UAZ 470 is produced in several configurations to support weapons systems; command and control systems; and ammunition, troop and general cargo transport.
The UAZ 470A is the Armament Carrier configuration of the UAZ family. The vehicles are equipped with basic armor and the weapon mount, located on the roof of the vehicle, is adaptable to mount either the DShK 12.7mm or the KPVT 14.5mm machine gun; or the AT-13 Metis M Missile Launcher. The weapons platform can be traversed 360 degrees.
