I never had any of the gliders when I was a kid. My friend had them and the were junk. We could never get them to fly. I really liked the Tan Grunt that came with the Joe glider, but didn't really care for the trooper that came with the Cobra glider.
So, cut to almost 40 years later and I was in the dollar store and came across a blue camouflaged foam glider airplane and saw that the wing pieces were almost the perfect scale and color pattern for a makeshift Cobra Glider. I rushed home and, remembering my distaste for the original Viper Pilot, wanted to make a trooper that looked more like a 25th Anniversary Cobra FANG Pilot...but with a bit of silver as a callback to the Viper Pilot's silver Cobra emblem.
