Unmasked head: '92 Wetsuit
Helmet, rest of figure: '03 Agent Faces
Cobra Dignitary Officer
Diplomatic Corps
Cobra Command
Character/colors:
The Cobra Dignitary Officer (not an official name used by Marvel or Hasbro, just my best guess) appeared briefly in Marvel Comics, where US State Department officials and Cobra were having a meeting.
At this meeting was a Cobra representative. The character was drawn as a Crimson Guard, but colored in blue. It's either a mis-color by the colorist or the penciller borrowing the CG design for its elegance. Either way, it creates an interesting opportunity to press the GC uniform into a different use.
Where the comic simply replaced the crimson with blue, I went a bit further. The black faceplate and the leg stripes are dove grey.
The Cobra Dignitary Officer was shown with his helmet on, but it seems like a position where the helmet would be off most of the time. As I used an Agent Face instead of a true Crimson Guard figure as the base, a removable helmet was included. After reworking the particularly horrible hairline, the Wetsuit head is aged up considerable, mostly through the use of painting on blemishes and age lines.
Sculpting & Modifying:
The hairline was ground down, then the top of the head was reworked with epoxy, which also filled the shoulder and elbow rivets as well as the thigh screw insets. The hair itself is sculpted of paper strips.
Dedication:
Dedicated to Timmer of Half The Battle. He pointed out the existence of this character in his review of one of Marvel's GI Joe issues.
Thanks for looking.
