Lee Stafford is one of the finest products that the US Army's officer schools ever produced. He soaked up lessons on tank warfare as if his brain were a sponge. He is a personal commander and his men trust him implicitly. Why, then, is he working for Cobra? His loyalty to his country was shaken when he found out that his insurance would not cover treatments for his daughter's fatal disease. He began to see the whole system as rotten, and when word became known of how he wished that things would change, Cobra extended their forked tongue. He signed up with their cause, and Cobra paid the treatment for his daughter as long as she lived. Colonel Stafford fights to turn America into something different, though he has doubts about Cobra Commander's long term motives.
