Pike

Character:

Introduced in the 2010 film, Pike was the leader of the Black Forest contract team that fought under the direction of the corrupt General Morrison against The A-Team.

Design/Sculpting & Modifying:

Pike had several outfits throughout the movie, but I'm partial to the black suit look. To get the body a bit bulkier, I started off with a Shark Tank suit body, but added in Mutt Williams arms below the shoulders. This also added elbow articulation. The shoulders were then built out with epoxy to match the diameter of the Mutt Williams arms.

The Shark Tank figures were made as 7 POA figures, so the bottom of the jacket was sculpted as part of the top of the legs. It's not bad, but I improved it by replacing the jacket bottom with a paper/epoxy one that hangs over the legs. This allows for the legs to move under it. The sides of the legs were also built up with epoxy, to blend the original sculpted jacket bottom flush with the rest of the legs. This also makes a better overall silhouette of the suit.

The New Sculpt Blowtorch head looks even more like actor Brian Bloom than the BTR Duke one does. But the Duke head look better with the body overall, so it was used. I knocked down the spiked tip of Duke's hair, then resculpted the top of the head.

Colors & Paint:

Based on the movie, with a solid tie instead of a patterned one. The shirt is a bit lighter than in the movie, to make up for only a sliver of it being visible due to the jacket being almost closed and at 1:18 scale.

There's no sculpted hair, just the round dome up top. The appearance of texture for the hair is done by laying down a series of dark brown strokes over the hair, which were then offset/topped with lighter brown strokes, and then another offset/topped layer of black again.
