I had previously created a kilt-wearing version of Destro (with a black dress shirt, black/red gloves, and a thick kilt), but had never really been satisfied with the figure. That previous version is perfectly serviceable, of course. I think I was just dissatisfied by the fact that it did not match the pictures that I was researching online. Also, since it was my first attempt at a soft goods kilt, the construction was a little lacking. I liked the tartan pattern on that previous figure. But, unfortunately was unable to find it again.
So, I really wanted my "Clan McCullen" Destro to have a fairly traditional Scotsman silhouette. As such, I wanted to give him a puffy shirt, but my mandate all these years has been to use mostly MTF parts, so a White "Agency-Ops" Dress shirt would have to suffice. I also wanted to give him a nice vest to wear and the Dime Novel Legends vest was the most formal looking. I reconfigured how the kilt fits over Destro. Instead of a separate kilt and bandolier (or whatever it is really called) of the previous figure, I tried to incorporate the bandolier into the kilt since traditional kilts wrap around the waist and torso much like Roman robes. Manipulating and cutting cotton invariably degrades the fabric and makes it fray, but I wasn't too worried about the material fraying as I see many real-life kilts with fringe.
