Zarana has been in my batter's box for about 4 or 5 years now. This one figure has given me the most heartburn out of all my figures, bar none. I always knew from the very beginning that she would need to be a splice between MTF and BFS. She sat on the shelf for literal years because I was too scared to try a splice. One day, I did try a splice. I chose to do a Ninja Force Scarlett. It turned out horribly. The MTF waist-piece was way too wide for the BFS stomach. She looked deformed. So, with tail firmly between my legs, Zarana got put on indefinite hold. I still collected accessories for her, but the figure was stalled. Not being able to finish Zarana always bothered me. A lot.
Over the years, I could not get that failure out of my head. I realized that the only way to get a BFS/MTF splice that looked halfway decent, I would need to use a BFS waist-piece INSIDE of an MTF waist-piece. What I needed to do was sand down the BFS waist to almost nothing and place it inside the MTF waist to make it look like she is wearing hip-huggers. That way there would be more of an hourglass shape to the figure.
I pulled out a BFS female buck waist and I nipped and I nipped and sanded and sanded and sanded a got that BFS waist to almost a sliver. The result is better than my previous attempts, if you ignore the glaring line across her stomach. And she is not that much taller than a normal Valkyrie, which is still pretty tall, I guess.
I ended up dying her accessories. The pistol holster only took a couple hours to saturate, but the double magazine pouch took four days to get to a color consistent with the holster.
