Character:

Palitoy's first wave of Action Force figures didn't feature codenames, so its Deep Sea Diver was just... Deep Sea Diver. To update the character, he's been given the codename of Implosion.

Design:

If you've seen the more popular Action Force Muton figure, you've seen the base figure Palitoy used to create Deep Sea Diver and also Leviathan. Very similar in appearance to the Fisher-Price Adventure People's Deep Sea Diver, I considered recoloring one of them to make this figure. But the colors sets of Palitoy's DSD and Fisher-Price's DSD were similar, so I opted for using unorthodox parts to create Implosion.

With a name like Implosion, you know the character goes very, very far down in the ocean. To make this character stand apart from Leviathan, who shared the same Palitoy body, Implosion is inside of a "wearable" submersible. Like the 1984 Deep Six design, but sleeker. I made it too sleek and it doesn't read like it's supposed to, but it was a fun build.

Colors & Paint:

Based on the Palitoy figure, but without the grey. White and Brass color scheme, dirtied with an ink-in-clearcoat wash.

Sculpting & Modifying:

The head itself is a resin cast from eBay (maybe done by starwarsgeek, but I'm not positive). It might have been from a Steel Monsters driver, but again, I'm not sure.

The various parts are glued and epoxy smoothed together. Epoxy is also built up to create a ridge for the helmet edges to lock into.

Thanks for looking.
