Wealthy Industrialist Anthony Stark wanted to do something to help the causes of freedom and liberty using his technological genius. Creating a series of Iron Man uniforms, his most consistently-used model featured here, he went on to found the Avengers team of justice-fighters.

As Iron Man, Tony Stark is able to fly at supersonic speeds (even trans-atmospherically with additional modifications to the standard armor), withstand all sorts of punishment ranging from sheer physical brutality to the whole spectrum of directed energy weapons, project "repulsor" beams from emitters in his palms and the whole spectrum of energies from his chest emitter, and even rollerskate!
