When General Clayton M. Abernathy, code name: Hawk, was wounded in a battle by Cobra Comander, he was left paralyzed from the waist down. Unable to cope with his wounds, General Hawk decided to leave the team, although all of the team members still wanted him to stay. As Hawk vanished from the scene, the Jugglers made their move, appointing the highly decorated General Philip Rey to the position of the Joe's Commanding officer. Soon after he assumed his role, several probes into his background brought up more questions. His past is shrouded in mystery & there is more than a hint by the comics that he may in fact be a clone of Serpentor or at least a clone bearing part of Serpentor's DNA.
