The leader of a Cobra undercover cell in Europe, Baron Ironblood decries the cowardice of Cobra Commander's capitulation to the UN after the Trucial Abysmia War. The former Appel-series Crimson Guard reclaims his hereditary title and forms a new organization from the Cobra sleeper cells in Europe: The Red Shadows.

Destro and MARS initially would not deal with the fledgling group. So, from the graveyard of past Joe-Cobra battles, the Baron directed his minions to forge new vehicles.

The Shadowblitz tank is the Red Shadows' heavy ground support. It boasts a full-swivel heavy machine gun, linked front-facing machine guns. Plus the delivery of a battery of three ground to ground missiles.
