2005 Convention Destro body, Crimson Guard Immortal head.
For years, the Crimson Guards were considered the elite of the Cobra forces. They were trained to fight both on the battlefield, and in the boardroom. When they weren't wielding a rifle, they were carrying a briefcase with all manner of paperwork to buy up and buy out anyone who opposed them or had something they wanted. Considered too valuable to waste on a battlefield, this was where Cobra Commander preferred to keep them.
But some years later, the Crimson Guard Immortals were devised. Possessing the same ruthless business skills as the Crimson Guards, the CGI's were even more battle-hardened, and could more readily divide their time between hostile takeovers of both the business sense and the military. In recent years, though, the CGI's have been relegated mostly to tank duty, with the latest generation of Crimson Attack Tanks. Cobra Commander seems to prefer using the more traditional Crimson Guards.
It was the development of the Crimson Shadow Guards, however, that finally pushed the existing Crimson Guard Immortals too far. A cadre of elite within an already elite cadre, trained not only for the battlefield and the boardroom, but for infiltration and covert operations, was just too much. The Crimson Guard Immortals will no longer be mere tank drivers. They have developed their own Shadows -- the Crimson Shadow Guard Immortals -- and they just might be the most dangerous Cobra troopers of all time -- to anyone that gets in their way.
