Like Serpentor, Destro doesn't like to leave his troops behind to die. He has spent too much money on training them to let them become just "cannon fodder".

The Iron Medic is taken from countries where terrorist bombs explode every day. These guys have seen everything, and are very cool under fire. They are equipped with the latest medical tools and field gadgets. All Iron Medics carry an oxygen box with enough equipment to intubate and secure a patient's airway and make them ready for transport. The Iron Medic's backpack has communication equipment linked to their helmet. One word, and a F.A.N.G., modified for evac will home in on the G.P.S. in the pack. The pack also has many medical books, charts, diagrams, and med lists in its computer, that can be brought-up on the Iron Medic's eye-H.U.D. The I.M. also carries a gun filled with air-projected darts of Morphine and a powerful antibiotic. This helps calm the patient, lowering his blood pressure, and help fight-off any early infections. This can also be used as a defensive weapon. Three darts and it's good night. The Iron Medic also will pre-plan an area ahead of time to find the best places for a pick-up, and have the best exit route mapped out.

Destro's troops feel good about going into battle when they see an Iron Medic is with them. They know if they get injured, someone will take care of them. This makes them want to fight harder, and makes them a more superior soldier to a Cobra trooper.
