Blackjak was a scummy pirate before hooking up with Dart, who became his partner, and later, lover. Due to Dart's family ties, they were reunited with Atari Force to combat the evil Dark Force [not his real name].

In my Joeverse, Blackjak is a mercenary hired by Alpha Flight to complete missions that can't be traced back to the organization or the Canadian government.

Blackjak has a cybernetic left eye and a remote-controlled dockable camera that can be used for close quarter recon, sending images back to him via components attached to his optical nerve -- but not without some degree of pain, which might explain his sour demeanor.
