First a bit of design history: this figure is actually well over 3 years old (the idea for him almost 5 years old); I built him, put him on display, and never got around to doing up a solid bio for him. Hence I can't be sure about the parts I used...

In the end I decided I'd include him as part of my Vanguard universe, which of course, is now defunct, and with it his story. Here though is what I did have put together for him:

Real Name: Caldwell, Charles
Birthplace: Andersen, Washington
PMS: Military Police

Charlie Caldwell was born and raised in the little town of Andersen, Washington, along with his best childhood friend, Sally Powers. The two grew up close as only kids in a "podunk town" like Andersen could, even briefly enjoying a romance in high school, before each went their separate ways.

Charlie ended up in the Air Force, where he trained as a security policeman, before opting to become a medic during his second tour; he went through and completed the training to become an elite Air Force Para-Rescue medic as well, seeing action toward the latter half of the Third World War.

A the end of his enlistment Charlie got word his father was dying, and headed home to Andersen. Once there he found himself seeing the little town in a new light, and at the insistence of the people, ran for his father's job as sheriff, and was elected by a landslide. It didn't hurt that his old friend Sally had returned for his father's funeral either, and old flames had rekindled, leading the two to marry only a few months later.

Charlie and his wife came to the attention of Vanguard after a series of mysterious animal attacks started happening in the woods around Andersen, attacks linked to a type of Netherworld guard-dog. While the mystery was never fully solved a year later the Vanguard team would turn to battle Striders that threatened to take over the town--an event that led Charlie and his wife to join Vanguard, as Shotgun Charlie and Shotgun Sally (due to their preference for shotguns as their main weapons.)
