This is my first take on a Cobra Viper. I have always thought that they were awesome...better than the Cobra Troopers. To sum everything up, they are Cobra's backbone of the Cobra Army. Mosty importantly, they are called Cobra's Grunts.

At first, this was going to be my Major Bludd custom and it would have worked out...but after I had put the figure together and added SGT Hacker's head, I said to myself... forget Major Bludd, go with the Mercer/Cobra Viper look.

I did. And in my opinion, he turned out awesome...besides, the figure looks better in person. I used some of the hobby lobby royal blue paint (it was a little darker shade of blue) and figured if he is going to resemble Mercer as a Cobra Viper, then so be it.

In a comic book project I am working on, Mercer leads a team of Vipers as they assault SGT Slaughter and his Marauders. In the end, SGT Slaughter is killed and along with the rest of the Marauders. After two years have passed and Cobra has full control over the world, a new team of Resistance fighters known as Night Force combats Cobra.

During an attempt to take back the underground base called OVAL (Operations Validation Assault and Logistics) office; Night Force fails on their attempt. Thus, Cobra Commander promotes Mercer as Command Sergeant Major of the Cobra Viper Army.

It was at that moment that General Sharp brings in an old friend of his named Duke, who leads his team into battle against Cobra.
