A member of the elite The Corps! military force, Hiro Yamato often works in tandem with G.I. Joe's own Ninja Force, and is considered an honorary member of the team.
Tactical Profile:
An expert covert operative. Specializes in silent reconnaissance and intelligence gathering.
Dossier:
Member of an ancient and secret Ninja clan. Trained since birth in all major martial arts, he lives by a fierce warrior code.
A driving force behind my Ninja Force submissions (as well as my re-embracing of ninjas in general) was discovering the "cut-and-paste" ninja movies that Hong Kong director Godfrey Ho made throughout the 80s and early 90s. Pure ninja cheese in which caucasians in ninja costumes in all sorts of zany colors with headbands that say NINJA on them use all sorts of techniques to fight each other, from turning into exploding fish to sending themselves messages via motorized Transformers knockoffs. It made me want to do at least one ninja in garish colors to homage those films. Hiro Yamato was that ninja, thanks to his early 90s teal and red figure. The 25th Anniversary Ninja-Viper provided most of the body, with Ninja Ku Storm Shadow providing the more traditional ninja lower legs, as well as the already-black belt. Retaliation's Red Ninja gave me the head, which matched the Corps! figure's baggyness. After painting the camo on the figure, I also added a nod to the late-90s version of Hiro Yamato with the red/white sigil on the chest as well. The weapons were a no-brainer, as the original Hiro Yamato figure had included a blue crossbow and a grey quiver, Retaliation Zartan's accessories provided the perfect analog. I added a pair of nunchaku once again as a nod to the late-90s Hiro Yamato figure.
