As a boy, Magi dreamed of sailing the world's wide open oceans and feeling the sea breeze upon his face. Anything was better then sweating through another record breaking scorcher of a day in the Mojave Valley. So he joined the Navy the earliest they would possibly take him.
At first, he worked in the shipbound communications support for the Navy SEALs. While really good at his job, especially at predicting unforseen complications, he came to realize he could do a better job out in the field than behind the scenes.
On his first mission as a SEAL, the satelite phone got shot. Magi was able to rig together a working radio out of some tinfoil, a coke bottle, and an iPod shuffle. That mission was in support of a GI Joe operation, fast tracking his name to the top of the recruitment list.
He still volunteers for every sea based mission, but more often then not, he's assigned to the Comm station in the Desert Fox in some remote sandbox on the other side of the globe. Some soldiers might complain about being shoved in a tag along seat all the way in the back with not so much as a windshield to keep out the dirt and bullets, but not Magi. When the heat is on, he's the coolest one out there.
"If you're ever out where the nearest cell tower is two countries away, and you forgot to wish your mom a happy birthday, then there is nobody who can patch your call through quicker than Magi."

When this project first got suggested I knew right away which seat I wanted to fill. The Desert Fox is one my all time favorite vehicles. I use to imagine that Breaker and Dial-Tone hated that comm seat about ad much as someone sitting in the backseat over the hump on a long road trip. Whoever sits there is fully exposed to everything. So whoever actually chooses to sit there has to be crazy, totally dedicated to the cause, or both.
