I've been playing and customizing Joes since '82. It wasn't until college and seeing Yo Joe for the first time that I saw customizing as a real hobby. My first attempt at a custom was for a Toyfair custom contest in which I used melted crayons to paint and sculpt a GI Scooter (from the Muppets). Hey, I was dirt poor at the time. Later I used very little paint to create characters for roles in my Star Wars and GI Joe universe. Then I found the Bivouac and it changed my life. People weren't just showing off figures with a little paint added. They were doing full blown works of art. More importantly they were openly discussing the how to's and what not to do's along with everything else I was interested in. Of course, that site led to Joe Customs which I'm proud to be a member of. Meeting up with guys from the board always reaffirms my love for these toys and this community.
I want to thank SSD, Beav, Camper, Jamie, and all you guys for making this possible and fun.
