My theme for Road Pig in this GP was for every accessory to be 'practical' (in other words: removable). While it's partially because I didn't yet -have- Road Pig in my 'Noks, I thought that would be more challenging to create a spacesuit for him.
You'd think that Road Pig himself, the combo was simple enough -- Barrage's beefy upper body on Flint's stretched legs. I was worried about the Flint 'tiny' butt, but I did some research on a certain famous bodybuilder. If the shape was good enough for Ahh-nold as Mr. Universe, I figured, Road Pig could live with it. The head, however, the head drove me insane. I mocked up three heads and drilled out two: Barrage's, Blackout's, and the Leatherneck I finally went with. Blackout's head is just too skinny on the Barrage body, and to me at least, the Barrage head just looks like Barrage is masquerading as Road Pig. I did also have to give in with one non-removable accessory: the upper arm band (PTE flak vest straps) with the armor stud to hide the Joe tattoo.
So many customs reverted to the v1 accessories, so making the combat pads was another challenge. I glued a second Medi-Viper back piece to a green harness, and I slowly, carefully trimmed away bit after bit to get the effect I wanted. That way, if I cut the wrong part, I didn't ruin the only black harness I had. Once I had the shape I wanted, and I was sure it would stay in place, I repeated it on the black, then added the shoulder pad and flail for additional detail. The quiver holds on to his thigh with two pins; the black pantleg keeps the holes from being seen without it.
The duster was another fun accessory, once I figured out just how to use it. I had the shoulder flap and waist-down flare from the Bad Guyz figure for a long time, and I finally came up with using the PTE flak vest to fill the gaps. I inserted the back to the shoulder flare first, then sized and glued the waist flare to that. I cut open the front half to make the left and right panels and added them individually; the left side is also secured to the back, but the right-hand side is attached only at the top. This way, you feed the left arm through, then tuck the right front panel into place for the figure to wear it.
But wait! This is the Spacenoks! So we need a spacesuit too. The Chap Mei ninjas provided me with the torso piece for that as well. I had to trim the knives off the bottom though, and I painted the center panel silver for hopefully a more 'spacey' feel. The 'Gravity boots' I think cover over the camo nicely, and we can't have campy Spacenoks without the big, clear, 'bubble' helmets, right?!
