Selkirk's rehab journal, day 1:
It has become increasingly harder to fight off the infected Compound Z hordes. You'd think the cities would be the worst because of the sheer numbers. You'd be wrong. Cobra's bases are scattered around the globe. They are hidden and well protected with automated security. The real danger is what's inside. What we didn't know at the beginning of all this was that while Cobra was starting to lose control of Compound Z as it spread beyond their target areas, they'd already been hard at work at developing the next gen nerve agent, Compound Z.2. Ozone and Airtight's best guess is that they were trying to add some control elements in while beefing them up. In a weird sort of way we're lucky. These super soldier Z's aren't nearly as plentiful, but when we hit a Cobra lab facility, we're sure to run across a few of them. That's on top of the already dangerous normal infected Vipers and civilian contractors. Apparently the only thing stopping us from blowing these facilities up to Kingdom Come, is that the brass are afraid of what other Cobra secrets we might unleash into the world.

We all go out knowing this could be the day one of them takes us out, but if we stay sharp, following our training and instincts, it won't be today. At least not for me. I'm a survivor. Just tape me up and send me back out. I need to be back out there. These walls are more dangerous to me than any Z.
