Hi guys, has anyone compiled a list of which figure skin tones correspond (roughly) to other figure lines? I'm primarily thinking of recent "independent" figure lines (Marauder, Boss Fight, Chicken Fried toys, and so on). Which Boss Fight or Chicken Fried Toy blanks, for example, would I pair with a light skin tone Marauder head? Also, those are the three figure lines I've purchased, but I'm aware that other figure lines with similar body construction have been released. Which figure lines can be swapped out without the need to drill/cut/glue body parts?

This is an interesting idea. I imagine it would take forever to get a list up and running.

I've found that the best way to match skin tones is to give up and paint them- or have some distance between ones that are almost close (like a head and hands on arms with sleeves) so that they don't directly contact each other.

i usually do washes of brown over 2 close "but not close enough" parts like forearm to bicep. though i also prefer dirtied up looking customs.

a list of factory skin tone matches may be near impossible. for lots of reasons the plastic color might change from run to run at a single manufacturer at any time. also i think i've seen some brand new heads from like BFS or similar that were painted flesh over solid colors, like a blank green head. so that might be a much harder thing for the factory to use the exact same paint color run after run.

It would pretty close to futile. I was never ever able to match the modern oring semi-transparent orange from the TRU sets. But just from a production stand point the color of molded skin tone to painted skin tone varies even when on the same figure. And every production run varies on which pigments for the plastic or Pantone color for the skintone paint. Almost every single color set is different from one figure to the next. On extremely rare occassions, a single designer on something like the Accelator Suit Speed Metal Joe figure happens to also be working on the unproduced Jurassic Park mercenary figure that uses the Cobra Night Adder body and those skintones match perfectly.
