Anyone else get an email saying these have been cancelled from their order? The email arrived today.

The following item(s) have been cancelled, and you will not be charged for them:

Yep. Got the same email.

Placed the order January 26th, called up customer service and was told:
"Any item placed on backorder status, they will do their best to fill...but don't guarantee they will fill the order." I did tell her about them being available this morning for sale on the site...and asked just what the hell does PREORDER mean to tru.com? Got nowhere with it.

When asked if they are not going to carry these online: "I don't have that info."

I then proceeded to ask the woman if they had taken the shipping charges off my credit card...as the shipping on these items were paid when I got the 5 packs shipped, got this answer: "Oh, was it charged?" She checked the account..and said : "Oh, yes it was charged."

I told her: "Well, considering the great service your company has given me...you got one week to get the charges off...or I reports it to Capital One as fraud."

I wouldn't be so upset over this...except for the fact that they cancelled Preorders, and put them up on the tru.com site for sale this morning. I conveyed this to the lady from customer service...who also addressed this with her supervisor, she said there is nothing they can do. I told her...take a look at my account, notice alot of past orders there don't you? Guess what??? This will be the last one placed.

so if they're up on the site can you go back & re-order them? i don't get why they would've gotten cancelled out, that sounds like someone screwed up when they were trying to update their product database or something.

They were on the site this morning from posts on other boards...and people purchased them. When I checked at lunch time today...they were listed as "Temporarily Not Available Online" (and still are).

When I spoke to the customer service lady...I asked if I can just have them put back on preorder status, but alas they said no...since it is not available at this time, no.

From what I am hearing...this is not the first time tru.com / amazon.com has done this with "Preorder" listings.

Don't hate me, but I got a notice that mine shipped.

Now their listed as not avialible...and they dropped the price to 13.99....no freakin clue whats going on over there.

Yeah, I remember reading on the Fwoosh about pre-orders being cancelled for no reason by TRU/Amazon.com, but this was before TRU started their own standalone web business, back when Toy Biz was still putting out Marvel Legends figures.

It sucks that TRU $#!+-canned all these orders, but I've read that if you complain to their customer service, you might get a coupon out of the deal as an apology... worth a shot, as you have nothing to lose.

I've had good results using the BBB.
I'm not to pleased with tru.com either. My last experience with them has taught me not to order from them. It is rather tempting though when they list stuff that I can't readily find.

So what's the deal though? Are these sets actually cancelled and won't be sold by TR'U or is their pre-order system just screwed up and these will be in fact sold?

I'm sure no one knows for sure, but any guesses?

Strictly THEORY on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of miscommunication between TRU.com and the "brick and mortar" stores, and the bulk of these exclusives went to the brick and mortar stores, and that left TRU.com with more pre-orders than they could handle. Granted I haven't the slightest idea as to the production run of these toys, or for that matter how many preorders TRU.com actually received. You'd think there'd be plenty to go around, and at least the online pre-orders are guaranteed sales, whereas putting them in the regular stores, as with any toy merchandise, is setting it up and hoping somebody buys it. Given the current popularity of these toys, I can't imagine that either Hasbro or TRU would outright cancel them, and as one earlier posting indicates, SOME of these are apparently shipping.

TRU.com has been cancelling a lot of pre-orders lately. I had some for a couple of Star Wars items which they later cancelled a while ago. These items still haven't been released to retail. They were also exclusives. They don't seem to handle the pre-order scenario very well.

Like I posted, I got confirmation that mine have shipped. Once they get here, I'll confirm I got what I ordered, but at least some were supposedly shipped.

Came home yesterday to a largish box from TRU.com. In it I found the three three-packs. Maybe they'll rework and re-offer.
