the ability to fit 4-6 figures in the base would be cool. like you said a bit wider and more depth would be sweet.
you have pic of the flagg hangar or displaybase?

The one I had is a mock up, and I'm not really sure where that pic is at, hehe. Other than that I've been just piecing styrofoam and cardboard together to try and get an idea. I've about got something. This one I'm trying to slim it down, but I want the ability to put a Skystriker on it. My initial idea was having a gun port on the front with enough space for a figure to fit along with space for a Skystriker and enough left over space to put more stuff. Maybe even another vehicle. But that ended up not being realistic since it would be difficult to build over and over and way too big. Plus the price would have been crazy too.

I have the graphics to the old Palitoy base. Is that something you could print on the adhesive paper?

This one?

Yeah that would probably be cool, but I don't know how much work that would take. It looks even more complicated than the Cobra Base and that one's taking me a while per each group of orders. I'd hate to jump into another one that's very hard to do right now. Maybe after I finally get all Cobra Base orders caught up on, then I'll see. It'll have to have some new stuff done such as the trash chute and the gun on top.

But other than that, yeah it could be done. It wouldn't necessarily be hard to do, just a whole lot of time. That hallway with all the cutout windows would probably be the hardest part to cut out.

J_Man, I would DEFINITELY be interested in the room diorama idea, not to mention the Palitoy bases if you ever have time to make them.

That's the one J-man!

If you ever get a chance, I'm interested.

Last Christmas, my wife bought me the cardboard version of the Cobra Missile Base you made, and it's a beautiful piece! I'm still working on it because it's been such a busy year, but I HIGHLY recommend your work - it's well worth the wait!

seeing that Palitoy base reminds me of a couple other things that would be cool to see -- the backdrops to the old Death Star Playset, as well as the Tatooine, Hoth, and grey stand backdrops...

might be a way for you to bridge some boards, maybe earn some extra scratch...

Yeah that one would be cool, as well as the S.T.A.R. Transformers HQ, and this one:

http://www.toyarchive.com/Transformers/ ... rters.html

Any of these are doable, and actually I have an outlet to probably get these things made quicker. Unfortunately that might would cause a little more of a cost. The Cobra Base I'll just have to keep doing it as I am, but if I end up finding some scans or something for various ones of these, I'll look into seeing if these are options to add to the mix of things. It'll all come down to cost. I mean I don't want to sit here and have to say "Oh yeah it'll be $300 for the Desth Star". If it's a price I know I wouldn't pay, I won't even bother offering it. But yeah I will look into these various things. I just know I gotta get another outlet for getting these done to offer them.

I do actually have the scans for the Death Star. I was looking through my various files and saw that. I actually have the old Star Wars AT-AT and Jawa base scans too along with the later "Rebel Base" too. Trouble is that opens the door for needing to figure out something to do about the plastic base.

It was pointed out to me today about the Pit ping pong table I'm doing that the net looks too high. The cardboard set I got doesn't allow the net it's self to sit flush on the table plus with the detail printed on the bottom part it gave me the assumption that the net sat high on the table. I've been making them the way my cardboard one looks, so the question is, what is it suppose to look like and should I make the table where the net is flush and cut off all the other parts? Here's the page so you can see how the net is now:

http://djtoys.muchtobuy.com/pit.html

If popular vote is that it should have the net flush, I'll replace the table for those who currently bought a set and have the net sitting high. It hasn't been a ton of them bought so it wouldn't be that big a deal. It'll just delay the few sets I have that were about to ship since I'll redo the table. Technically it would be easier to make if the net were sitting low anyway.

Here's more of a visual for what I'm talking about. I'm guessing by nobody making post that nobody knows what I mean, hehe. If I were to change it I'd probably do it like the top one. It's pretty much flipping the net over and making it look more like a net. The way it comes out of the box is what the bottom one is and what I'm currently doing.

I definitely didn't understand what you initially asked about the net, and I'm only partly sure that I understand now. :) I vote for the "flush" option.

The way the cardboard one is when I put it together, all of that image that's on the bottom of the pic I posted is what I have been putting on the top of the table. It makes for a tall net. I didn't really like it, but I didn't question it since that's how I figured it's suppose to look. It was brought to my attention today though that it probably would look better with the net flush like the top image in the pic I posted. It would be a thin small net like a regular table I figure should have. I just went ahead and cut the other things that would hang low off the sides (those silver looking things) since it wouldn't work if the net was flush.

I just wanted other to voice their opinion before I changed it. I'll change the picture on the website too if I go with the flush net.

Flush! But I do like the little hangy down things on the side too. I'm going to try to modify the one I have to keep both, may have to eliminate the extra piece on the edge of each side of the table that half folds down.

I guess I need to redesign and make the cardboard one better rather than copying it. Here's some images of various tables:

Image

Image

None of them have any real reason for the 2 side flaps to be on the table like the Hasbro one has. They do have things that look like the little silver hanging deals on the sides though as well as the net being bigger in width than the table. Which I assume is suppose to be what secures the net to the table. The nets are all flush too.

I've never actually played ping pong on a table. I haven't ever paid enough attention to the design of one either, hehe. So really Hasbro's is off as well. What I'll do is make one the way I'd say it should look based off of seeing these tables now, then I'll post an image of it to see if it's what everyone would want. If it works, that'll get these back up and going. Everyone that's already got an order will get a new table too when this is done.
