Chalk another one up for liking the new Zartan.
I think it's the best one made yet. I bought a couple of them.

The swamp ski is small, but usable as a prop and a nice little bonus for a single carded figure.

For some reason, I actually like the Gung Ho torso. It's got a funky style that I enjoy.

I also am quite fond of this Zartan. He's much better than that poopsicle first one we got. Also, a guy at my work who usually only gets transformers was all excited by this version and was happy when I let him know we got it in stock, so it works on some levels.

The Combat Heroes Swamp Skier is ridiculous though, I think we can all agree on that. It's only good for Zartan to throw at the Joes before he runs off to hide.

hmmm I don't know about Gung-Ho having a beer gut, I mean he is a Marine! But I do see the point about the almost robotic/geometric abs sculpt. I guess for me, I think the Gung-Ho arms and legs are far worse than the torso. I love my Torch (except for his arms) and I would have kept my Gung-Ho but his stupid legs couldn't hold him up.

Maybe they should just retire that mold all together indeed, and toss out the Duke arms while we're at it.

gung ho has good legs/head sculpt. and the vest & backpack & gun work well. but the rest...yeah, melt the molds back down & start over.

The first one was waaaay better. I bought the wave 11 one to see for sure, and I do like the head/hood, but I've never been a fan of the belly shirt Zartan look and combining that with the Gung-Ho torso doesn't make me like it any more. So wave 11 Zartan becomes parts, at least his upper arms make a Zandar easier to do.

I'm not a fan of belly shirts, myself, but the look doesn't bother me on Zartan. Mostly because, it's not a belly shirt. It's chest armor, worn without a shirt underneath. I imagine that gets the inside of the armor a little funky after a while, but that's Zartan for ya.

By far my fav 25th that I have. I love the SS mask (masked assassin anyone?), and I think he is a great update to the original. And, like shown, the Swamp Skier works great with the Combat Heroes.

I thought I responded to this thread two days ago but apparently the interwebz ate my post.

I like this version, a lot. The first one was cool. It even tried to emulate the color changing ability. But this figure is the one I wanted. This is the modern take on one of the coolest action figures ever. The Duke mask isn't perfect, but after Spy Troops I've come to realize this is a much more satisfactory way of pulling off the disguises at this scale. It isn't super realistic but neither was the bearded face disguise back in the day. Like Chad said when I see Zartan in the Storm shadow mask all I can think of is the masked assassin who killed the Hard Master in the comic. Give this guy a bow and the comic pack red hooded cape and he's perfect.

The swamp skier is horrible. Way too small. But I keep wondering if there was supposed to be more to this. As is, it is small enough that with a peg it could be worn as a back pack like some of the old battle packs. It even has the folding handle bars. I think with a little work I might even be able to make it extend length wise.

Regardless, put this Zartan on the old Swamp Skier and problem solved. He looks hella cool. I like the chest armor better. I like the head sculpt better. I like the arm armor and gloves look better. I even like the pouches instead of the skull belt buckle better. An undershirt isn't enough to make the previous one better.

How much is the new Zartan, that is coming in the five pack, different from the second? I was thinking of waiting, getting that set and skipping the second Zartan.

I like the idea of having a SS and Duke mask.
The old one looks too much like James Lipton. I just see him responding "A ha ha ha ha. Now then, what is your favorite role you have done?"
