I think you might be right mainframe. I don't see them doing more 3 3/4 inch stuff under another product line. Considering how fast they dropped Renegades.

Anybody think there might be a link between the Special Ops in the proposed toy, and the "Viral" campaign that was Just launched for the Movie?

Considering Spec-Ops is a game in itself, my best guess for the new line would be interactive game pieces like these:

Yep, I would think it's most likely something like this.

If this new release was not called "Special Ops" I would be with you on that. If it said "Special Forces" like the viral campaign for instance, I would think that was plausible, but I am not sure they would want to intentionally mix terminology from the game and the movie line. That would create some level of confusion between the product lines that I think they would want to avoid.

Could these be from the new GI Joe Kreo line?

( http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp ... 54197&sr=1 )

The price points and theme seems about right.

I have never bought any Kreo stuff, but those are neat. I may need to get 1 or 2.

Yeah, I bet it's kreo. Not that I would pay that kind of money for the sets. They look awesome, but I'll pick them up on clearance after the movie has hit the bargain bin.

The alternative is that it's a heroclix like game. But after the card game flopped, I can't see them trying that again.

It's the Microforce figures. Target here just put them out and the shelf tags match the listings exactly. They say Spec Ops, and the prices match. What that means for the Tomahawk, I dunno.

According to the post, though, there was already SKUs for Micro Force.

Lots of confusion on this one, hopefully we get some news over the weekend to sort it out.

Eh. Since the blind bagged stuff and the carded stuff match the description and price for two of the Spec Ops listings, I'm willing to call Occams Razor on it. Probably just an earlier name for MicroForce that didn't get changed in the computer system.

Wait, there's non-blind-packed Micro Force now??

Yup. Though I believe, that like all things of this nature, that some figures can only be bought in multipacks, and some are only available blind bagged. With a healthy amount that are available in both.

and does that tagline "Collect, Battle, & Win" mean the Microforce's line is now somehow a playable miniatures game?

There is a "game" of sorts. It's basically Tiddlywinks using the stands.
