A bit late to the party here, but I have the diecast Hot Wheels version. Yes its very pricey, but I am a diehard KR fan. I'd rather plunk down the cash for the HW than bother building a 1:1 replicar, heh.

I saw the one in this thread at a hobby shop, and while the electronics nearly sold me, the scale and sculpting of the car put me off. Several of the details are not correct, and the proportions are wrong. It still works as KITT but the diecast version has a better look to it and many, many more details.

Does a GIJoe size figure fit in the diecast version?

Unfortunately no. The seats have a spring loaded Ejector Seat gimmick which makes them a bit bulkier than they would otherwise be.

Seems rather silly to have an ejector seat gimmick that no figure can actually use.

I agree unfortunately. Its a neat inclusion but I would have been fine with its omission to keep cost down. It always bugged me IRL as well due to how a driver is seated in the 3rd generation Trans Am, any such mechanism would have resulted in two broken femurs.
