I've read quite a few threads on here about these KS type deals. I still feel like the little old lady physically posting pics on her living room wall.
Haha I love that commercial. I quote the other old lady all the time.
That's not how this works! That's not how any of this works!
Its true though Kickstarter is not always intuitive and when the campaign is setup in a confusing way with weird funding rules that just makes it worse and lowers the confidence level rewards will be delivered.
So Kickstarter basics.
when you pledge $$$ is it binding? For Kickstarter your pledge is only binding IF the campaign hits its target goal by at the end of the campaign.
You can change and modify the Reward level (the radio button item) anytime before the deadline, including not pledging anymore.
You can also change the amount of money you wish to contribute at any time before the deadline.
This is important because if you choose level 1 figure for $25 but want 10 of that figure or a combo of that figure and a couple other figures the idea is to select one of the levels and then grab a calculator and manually figure out how much money you wish to add to pledge for the rest of the figures you want.
So in the scenario above your level would be 1 figure for $25 and you would pledge $250 + shipping.
If the campaign is successful at the end of the campaign you will get a survey shortly afterwards that you can specify exactly what you want the $250 to go to and add more money to get more rewards.
also if everything is "unlocked" some of these read like you pledged $$ for a chance to buy the unlocked items???
The idea for unlocks is different between campaigns
One way is that for each unlock the people pledging at certain levels will get the unlocked reward
The other more common way for action figure kickstarters is when the campaign hits a certain level of funding they can offer additional rewards for purchase that they would have been unable to do at a lower level of funding.
Does that help? A Kickstarter guide isn't a bad idea. I'll try working one up.
