Blitz,

I know somewhere in here you asked about who from Cobra Island is attending.

So far looks like "J.D." is attending.

I am still waiting to hear back from TheWyseOne if he is attending...I think he is going to contact Jbyrdd about possibly car-pooling out. As I hear from him...I will update here.

Hey All,

Surprise! :-D

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16683

Hopefully this publicity will lead to a larger head count at the picnic. ;-)

Enjoy reading!

I actually asked you that via PM, which is why you weren't able to find that question in this thread. ;-)

Thanks for the update. Unless "J.D." appears on this thread to confirm his attendance, I will not add him to the Confirmed Attendees list, but will consider him as attending for all other purposes.

I got a PM response from JBYRDD. He will not be attending, because he still feels it's too far to drive. His name was previously on the list with a question mark. I removed his name after I got his PM.

I sent a PM to TheWyseOne about 2 weeks ago, and it is still listed as unread. Feel free to follow up with him about his attendance.

Is there by chance any music being played at he picnic?

Also, between a boom box and a Stereo, what's needed? music in MP3 format? or music on CD players?

I've got a mix tape I wanna bring. :D

Please fill me in.

Is there anything else going on in the general area this picnic weekend?

My wife has been looking online at hotels for rooms and it seems that there is next to nothing to be found. So we were wondering if there is something going on in the area.

It isnt affecting our decision to attend, we were just wondering.

Thanks for reading and for any responces. :)

Chuckles is our resident "Deejay" for our picnics. Although I have not studied his set up closely, I believe he brings either an MP3 player or an iPod, which he connects to a medium-sized stereo speaker. I'm positive that he doesn't use cassettes (in reference to the mix tape).

Aegis,

Yeah, the hotel prices in suburban/rural Pennsylvania continue to astound me. Last year, at least there was a reason (NASCAR event), but this year, I am not sure. I've stayed downtown in major cities and not paid the prices that the PA hotels are asking for.

Ronin and I were researching hotel rooms several weeks ago. Ronin found out that the Ramada Inn nearby was sold out due to a wedding, but got a decent price for the Econo Lodge in the area. So the hotels may be booked or nearly booked for various reasons.

Not to my knowledge...weddings are plentiful around here this time of the year though. The Ramada has always been costly, and yes...for being downtown Pottsville, their prices are very ridiculous.

One hotel that my wife and I stayed at is formerly "The River Inn"...it is now a "Day's Inn". The phone number is 570-385-2407. I just called and they have rooms available for the weekend...rates are 1 Queen Size Bed $59/per night, 2 Queen Size Beds $69/per night.

www.daysinn.com or best bet dial the phone number I posted.

Here is a yahoo map of it's location : http://local.yahoo.com/info-45011768-ri ... pottsville
It is about 10 minutes from the meet.

If this doesn't help...let me know, I will see what else I can find here for you fellas!

Hey,
You forgot to add an "action figure whitening" demonstration.

I'd like to see how we can have yellowed action figures (like a yellowed Storm Shadow) return to their pearl white color.

:-D See, look at me teeth.

I didn't "forget" to add that demonstration, since no one offered to hold one. The itinerary is NOT a request line. If you want to hold a demonstration, then you need to speak up in advance.

I appreciate the help and quick responces. Thankfully we did find one that had what we needed (indoor pool for the kids was the biggest). So that is taken care of and I am happy about that.

Thanks again :)

Yeah I bring my Ipod and hook it to one of my guitar amps. If you have an MP3 player, feel free to bring it since I can hook it up too.

Update on my wishlist: I need the G.I. Joe Cobra comic (the one with Chuckles) issues 1-3. I got behind!

Can anyone bring something to seal the paint on my customs? And show me how you do it? It's the one thing I can't figure out on my own.

:chuckles:

This might be possible for next year. One of us needs to "master" the technique first. The great thing about meeting in person is someone may have experimented in this to give out advice at the meet. I am always amazed at the collective talents that arrive. I am more than a little excited to glean hobby tips from the attendees. During the meet, I always learn something from chit chat between events.
