In keeping with the "making things I dreamed of existing since I was a kid and then denying me possession of said items" trend they seem to have started this year, it's going to be Pythona.

Want to be annoyed with Hasbro?

White character, pink toys based on that character. 1 I can understand, but they've made 5 Celestias now and they've all been pink. The real idiotic part is that the boxes these toys come in show her as white. Even the initial prorotype Hasbro showed was white yet the retail version is always pink. You get the feeling they do this on purpose when they can. It'd be the same as releasing every Optimus Prime toy as orange instead of red when the boxes show him red.

Had a Starscream and 1each of the Zaranas in my cart, and just like with everyone else, they got yanked away.

I'm not pissed, though - I really had no intention of getting any of them, just wanted to see if I could - I can find a place for a Starscream, but if I really want one, I'll just drop $30 on a Skystriker and $5 on a can of paint and make my own. And I honestly don't even want a Skystriker, so....

Regardless, I'm done with HTS - not because I didn't get what I want (because I wasn't that excited about them anyway), but because of the "LASER BLAST" surrounding the whole "sorry, we decided to pull the stuff out of your cart" business model. They never have anything worth a "LASER BLAST" in stock, and their shipping prices suck, so there's no reason to go back.

Decided I'd use the money I was going to drop on these and get something useful from a company I enjoy dealing with. - So for the price of a Starscream and both Zaranas (before shipping), I went on Amazon and got the new 1st Appearance Avengers 5-pack, a Hogun, a Volstagg, an MU Falcon, and a clear variant MU Doc Strange all shipped 2-day UPS for free - and they'll be here Thursday morning (HTS often takes weeks.) And I still had enough $$$ left over to go to Target and buy a Captain America T-shirt and 2 MU Cyclops fodder figures.

I was thinking today that one painted like Jetfire would be a fun project.

I have a Jetfire in the works to go along with my non-transforming Transformers customs, but that sounds like a pretty sweet idea...

I've only ever ordered from them when I had a free shipping coupon and yes, their shipping rates normally are almost theft. But then again, so is BBTS with small orders. Online stores seem to base their lowest price ship costs on discouraging small orders. This is really why I hate buying online, I'm not saving anything if shipping costs as much to drive to the city where I can get more things.

Did I want Zarana? Heck ya. Would I have bought several for customs? Yep. But, I already hate whenever I break down and pay $20 for MOTUC figures - and that's a heck of a lot more plastic than goes into a Joe figure. That much for that figure was well beyond my price range.

So, fortunately, I avoided all the pain and suffering.

Someone on Facebook got this email response

Quote:
Thank you for your e-mail and for your interest in HasbroToyShop.com. We do apologize for your troubles in ordering this year’s exclusive San Diego Comic Con items from HasbroToyShop.com. Due to high volumes of activity on the website today, both the HasbroToyShop.com website and our internal system were moving very slowly and in some cases not loading at all. Due to the website being consistently non-responsive for several hours, many people were unable to secure the exclusive item(s) that they were trying to order.

Unfortunately, when an item is placed in a customer’s cart, the item is not reserved for that customer until the order has been completely placed and the customer receives the order number. Therefore, if a customer added an item to their cart and by the time the customer was able to check out with their order the item was no longer available, this means the item was unfortunately sold out in the meantime.

Unfortunately, there is no reserved stock of the exclusive Comic Con items and once they are sold out on HasbroToyShop.com, there will be no more available as these items were made in limited quantities and will not be restocked at any time.

We would like to apologize for the long hold time that customers experienced during the afternoon on July 26th as there was an inundation of phone calls of customers with questions and concerns in regards to the Comic Con exclusives. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we always strive to answer phone calls from every customer as soon as we are able.

Again, we apologize that many customers were unable to place orders for the exclusive items they wanted to purchase. These items are made in limited quantities as they are exclusive to the Comic Con convention and a small amount are reserved to be sold from HasbroToyShop.com after the convention for customers who were unable to attend.

We are working with our corporate offices and technical support teams to be better prepared for the release of the Comic Con exclusive items on HasbroToyShop.com after next year’s convention. We apologize again for any inconveniences the website issues and long hold times caused on July 26th. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know

Well, I see no reason not to trust that last paragraph....

For me I just wanted the traditional style Zarana, and I did get that after fighting. That's all I'm pissed about is all the time I spent trying to get it. 2 hours, 2 computers, 2 different browsers, and my Ipad fighting. I'd have been just as pissed, well more so, if I were at the convention and blew all that time. I've been at conventions though and skipped exclusives because I didn't want that insane wait to ruin the fun of everything else.

For Starscream, I might buy it elsewhere if I catch it cheap, or I might make one and have it actually transform. I don't know. It wasn't high on my list. Cold Slither Zarana wasn't either. It's just the principle of the whole thing that sucked.

I ended up getting an Indy set.

I tried from 12:50-1:15. It was in my cart, but I couldn't check out.

I checked at 3:30 and the Indy set was sold out.

I checked at 5:30 and the Indy set was back in stock. I was able to place my order, use the comic2011 code to knock off 10% (basically my tax) and was done.

I've got my order confirmation.

Yeah!

I read that email & only three words come to mind, both fitting as a summation of that email & what my response would be. "Go F@$! Yourself."
Really Hasbro? You really don't want my money? Fine, we're through. Your website never has anything worth buying in stock, I can't find your product in stores (and when I do it's the same four characters), your business practices only seem to feed scalpers, feed us the same lines of crap even when you're out & out proven wrong, & you certainly don't seem to care about your largest source of revenue. (And no, kids are not Hasbro's biggest source of revenue. Kids don't give a crap about toys, especially GI Joe. If it's not electronic, they ignore it.)

I was already slowing my collecting & I can't say how much longer I'll be dealing with the Club either. I spend a decent amount of money every year on GI Joe. I can find far better ways to use it.

Toys might be technically meant for kids, but until kids are out getting jobs and plenty of disposable income, it's adults that buy them. Collectors, fans OR parents, gift buyers or whatever. I never got the mentality companies have of "making what the fans want would drive other customers away". I doubt the other customers could give a damn if the toy made is an updated homage or a new character. It's like Hollywood movies insisting that they have to make changes from the source material to draw in the audiences and I think, "WHY?". Is the way it is really such a bad thing it'll keep people away and only the fans would like it?

I'm sorry but there is no proven reason to ignore and even turn away your loyal customers to please random shoppers when they probably couldn't care either way.

Yeah, seriously, they could have written that last year after the Slaughter fiasco, and here we are "after next year’s convention" with the same situation.
