If at all possible, this is what I would like to do. I don't know how in scale it is with the old Snake Armor, but I'm sure it would require some sculpting anyway.

I found it kind of funny that the Avengers movie modern Cap (Shield Launcher CA) has a back hole, but his shield doesn't have a peg on it, and the Captain America movie WWII figure (Rocket Grenade CA) has a shield with a peg, but no back hole on the figure.

I suppose the hole on the modern Cap is suppose to be for his big shield launcher thing, but to me it almost seems like they mixed up which shield went with which figure.

Wait a minute.
I bought the Rocket Grenade Cap, but mine has his mask on while he's unmasked in every picture I saw online.

Is there a variant?

Yes, I saw both versions on the shelf yesterday. It appears that the unmasked version is the rarer of the two, at least from my totally scientific analysis of one store. :)

Just got my Avengers figures ordered from TRU.com and boy am I disappointed. I was fully informed of the lesser articulation but I wasn't quite prepared for how bummed I would be about it once I had these in hand. I picked up Avengers uniform Cap, Gamma Smash Hulk, Ultimate Thor and Mark VII Iron Man. Aside from the Avengers Loki a buddy of mine picked up I won't be getting any more of these figures. I'll still be looking for Hawkeye and Black Widow but I'm going to hold out to see them in stores if at all possible. These first 4 figures I got have really bummed me out about the line. It's not just the loss of articulation points but the lack of range of motion in the POA we did get. Add to that the cheaper feeling plastic and softer sculpts (and yes they are softer than the previous Marvel movie lines) and these just don't feel like the toys I want to collect.

Avengers uniform Cap is okay. I like the new hip construction and the uniform doesn't look awful. But the lack of a torso joint and wrists really hurts. I can even live without ankles but that missing torso joint on all of these figures (aside from Hulk) really makes these more statue than action figure.

Mark VII Iron Man... probably the one I'm most disappointed in. I was really hoping for something equal to the IM2 figures and instead got something little more than a Fisher Price Adventure People figure. He'll look good in the back of the Hall of Armor but dammit I wanted a cool Iron Man figure and ...

Ultimate Thor is ugly and the hunched neck hurts him a bit in my eyes. The only things he really needs are wrist swivels and a torso or waist joint. And a hammer made of hard plastic, not this rubber crap that makes up a lot of these figures construction.

Gamma Smash Hulk is the one I was least disappointed in but considering I was expecting something close to Butt-Plug-Duke as far as the action feature integration was concerned he had the most to gain. I'm glad the shoulders are at least ratcheted so I can get a good "Hulk SMASH" pose out of him and the torso crunch joint really helps his score. Ankles and wrists would be nice just for posing stability and more options for posing respectively but considering he's the only one that got any torso articulation he gets points over the others just for that.

Honestly I'm glad I didn't pay full price for these (buy 2 get one free so with tax and shipping it was less than $40) because I'd be really pissed. I'm glad I got them so I can at least have something resembling the movie Avengers on my shelf but they won't be getting the front spot any time soon.

I've looked these over in the store and it looks like the only thing I want so far are the heads from the two Thors.

Might grab some Black Widows and a Loki, but otherwise it's clearance for anything else.

I got the maskless Rocket Grenade Cap and Ultimate Hawkeye, but I probably will only use the heads (Hawkeye's head should work for a Ghost Bear custom). At this point, I still want a Loki and Black Widow figure, and maybe movie Hawkeye if the head sculpt is decent. But, the rest of the figures just look terrible so far, and it's amazing how none of the new figures improve upon existing versions of the figures.

The only one I'm disappointed I bought was whatever Cap came with a vest and rocket shield. The rest have been fun toys.

That's a good summary of why these leave a bad taste in our respective mouths I think.

I'm kind of treating them as designer fodder pieces, to be honest. I picked up the first movie Cap, and while the size and articulation, and other flaws (it really does feel like a Happy Meal toy in hand) are going to prevent it from being a winner, I do see potential for customizing it. Sure, it will be more work than your average bear of a custom, but I think that's the plan.

At least there are some sculpts here not available elsewhere. The good news is I've been having a lot of fun lately converting statues to articulated figures anyway, so maybe that's what my training has been secretly designed for (making me the Daniel san of customizing?).

I did buy two unmasked Cap figures, again reasoning that I often pay about that much for good head sculpts from the independent casters anyway. Now my newly made Cap (once done) and my previous Commander Rogers will have matching movie-likeness heads. And I'm thinking some of the body parts might be used to help upsize some of the other figs. We'll see where it takes me.

I still have not found the unmasked Cap.

Aw, is that the one with the machine guns combined with the shield? Saw that one today and it looked neat. So, if so, what a bummer haha.

The same. I was hoping the guns were removeable. They are not. Also, there is no swivel elbows.

Yeah, that figure is probably the worst because the body is just a reuse of the Cap movie's Fortress Assault Captain America deluxe figure, so it has wrists, but no swivel elbows.

Saw the new Hulk finally. I love the look, and hope to see a 6" version as the 1:18th is just a bit undersized for my liking.

Haven't seen hawkeye or unmasked cap either... i do like the "classic comic colors" cap that comes with the armor suit though. probably not going to buy it, but it looks good.
