What series of Transformers is the one with the scientist who is Indian with the daughter who hangs with the Autobots? I thik he's a robot or something as well. Bumbelbee is drawn with his mouth off to the side, depending on what side he's being shown from? I think it's on on CN on Sat mornings. The few episodes I caught, the story did seem to be pretty in depth and continuing, but the animation just drove me nuts. I have a hard time watching shows with [what I consider] bad animation.

So, since Sunbow contracted the animation work on the old GI Joe animated series to Toei Studios, doesn't that technically make it anime? :shifty:

Seriously, have you actually watched TF Animated? I wasn't sold on the style either, but it's a seriously good show, with more serious stories and themes than the Sunbow Joe 'toon. Anything but dumbed down.

I tried buddy but to be honest each time I tuned in I caught Surly Soarly (I don't remember her name) being the focus of the entire episode or there was just silly behavior and stupid behavior from the characters. I tried it a good 5 times and was disappointed each time.

So in other words, you never watched it at all.

I only watched the second season of the Sigma 6 and some of the first season, but I barely remember any big eyes or younger anime tropes. I mostly remember the ongoing traitor plot, which was a lot of fun.

They had them. Mostly Scarlett (the lone female) and Tunnel Rat (comedy relief). I only watched a hand full of episodes though so maybe they only did it the few times I watched it.

TF Animated isn't horrible, but the kid stuff is horrible even for kids. Then again I only watched a few episodes of that too. And just so I can prove to Jay that I watched the episodes and can have an opinion that is different then his, I remember the episode that introduced Soundwave and the episode that introduced Wreckgar. I watched others but none of them were memorable enough to stick with me. The humans and Bumblebee seemed to be the only ones who got the weird hearts in the air or X eyes.

To be honest, I don't care what a new GI Joe cartoon is. They just need to get it on the air. I'll watch it no matter what.

The one thing I hope they don't do if they do go with a very stylized show, is create figures based on those stylized designs. No one wants GI Joe animated figures or Clone Wars stylized figures.

Yeah, man, Tunnel Rat's eyes in Sigma Six were as huge as the ones on his Comic Pack and ROC toys are! :-P
(I do see your point about S6 Tunnel Rat's eyes, but they weren't big)

So... it isn't horrible but it's horrible? I don't follow.

Yes, I agree here. As much as I'd love to see a stylized Joe cartoon, I'd rather the toys adhere closer to the realistic sculpts showcased in the Rise of Cobra toyline.

I think (reading his entire post) that he was talking about the "younger anime tropes" that Scramble referred to.

Since they didn't change the animation, from episode to episode, it didn't sound like he was referring to the eyes.

Oh and your picture is of Resolute Scarlett. He was talking about Sigma 6. ;-)

Just like almost every Transformers cartoon made, they may not be "bad" but all of them had moments that were painful to watch.

Example: I loved Transformers: Animated, but there were moments that made me cringe. I really hated what they did with the Constructicons, but I did not hate the show.

Thanks, Gaigaan-Dnok, the anime exclamation points and big cheesey smiles adn stuff is exactly what I was talking about. I wasn't talking her eyes. But now that you mention it, they are kind of big and where is her nose?

The animated programming, taken in its whole, is fairly decent entertainment. However, the elements injected into the show that appear to be aimed mainly at the pre-pubescent audience seem to be really dumbed down and over the top zany. So the show isn't horrible, but the kid stuff they is.

Intentional. One of the points I've been making in this thread is that Resolute is every bit as anime as Sigma Six.

The only "dumbed down, over the top zany" episode was Sari, No One's Home. That one parodied Home Alone, pretty much (which worked because Mixmaster's voice actor was pulling a Pesci imitation).

Nope, but what you said pretty much amounted to "I never watched it".

Because Sari was the sole focus of a lone episode. A lone episode late into the second season.

Looking at that picture of Scarlette was one of the other problems I had with Sig6, those guys looked like they were 19 or 20 years old. Yes, I know members of the military can be 19 or 20, but the characters in both the Sunbow and Resolute shows seemed to be older, more mature, like in their early 30s, late 20s.

I don't think I could agree with Resolute being "every bit as anime as Sigma Six"...

But I see what you're saying.

I absolutely hated the Brooklyn accents, the hard hats integrated in to their design, the way they were basically brainless idiots who were only interested in eating oil. Pretty much everything they did with them.

After all of the other cool designs, and characters, that were done for the show, their designs and personalities were just totally clichéd and annoying [to me].
