I never watched community until the first D&D episode came on, and then I watched just that episode, and it was enough to suck me into the show. The first 3 seasons are pretty darned awesome. Only a couple weak episodes. The 4th season was up and down for me (with the creator leaving the show) and even though they brought him back for this season, it's been kinda hit and miss again .

All that said, this was by far the best episode this season and one of the best of all time. It helps immensely that I know the cartoon. The moment Wingman killed Destro was something I've wanted to see for a long LONG time in that cartoon.

They did use stock footage in the old cartoon. Nothing *that* blatant, but stuff like Fang choppers blowing up and guys parachuting out or closeups they could re-use without tipping anyone off...

I DVRed it, and after watching it I told the wife: "we are not deleting this ever!"

Enjoy it, it's probably the closest thing to a 50th Anniversary event we will get. I hope Brian Goldner was watching.

Ok, Parts Id on those pics starts now:

It's an interesting mix of new and old sculpting stuff, and clearly customs.

I told the wife that also. Then I said that it could be removed when I get Season 5 of Community. I have the first 3 seasons, season 4 sucked.

That chopper appears to have the front end of the Captain America Justice Jet combined with the Black Dragon VTOL.

I haven't seen the last few minutes left thanks to the dog needing to go out, but everything up to that point was pure gold! This was truly a love letter to Joe, and it was so great to hear the Joe voice actors reprising their roles. The homages to the old toy commercials were probably the best part, along with the Submachopter. We need a Mutineers set now!!

Loved it. It was hilarious. I never keep stuff I've already watched on the DVR, but I kept this.

That was awesome!!
Never watched Community, but this episode was great.
They did a fantastic job and they really captured the spirit of the old toy commercials.

Are the D&D episodes online anywhere? Which season episodes would I be looking for?

Nbc.com has episodes online, and I think Hulu plus does. All the seasons except four have been great, and even four was okay.

As for the episode, we watched it last night and it was hilarious. It was great hearing the old voices again and the commercials were spot on. Will definitely rewatch.

The original D&D episode is in Season 2. The other one happened like two weeks ago.

"Ouch" on the ratings. That's a shame there. And some of those critics need to educate themselves on pop culture a little better.
